There is a message “A PARCEL IS WAITING FOR YOU” in my mailbox.

Express Mail items are delivered to the addressee in person, however, if the addressee was not at home, when the item was delivered, an invitation is left in the mailbox “A parcel is waiting for you”; in this case, you should do the following:

  • from the phone numbers indicated in the Invitation, choose and call the number corresponding to your address;
  • to ensure repeated delivery of your item more quickly, you should make sure that the recipient’s information indicated in the invitation is correct:
    • Addressee (your name, surname or number of the legal person),
    • Address (your address),
    • Number of the postal item,
    • Date and time, when the courier attempted to deliver your item.

In order to agree on the place and time of repeated delivery, call the specified phone numbers or write an e-mail to the specified address.

Can you pick up an item abroad and deliver it to me in Latvia?

Unfortunately, we ensure pick-up of items only in the territory of Latvia. The post or a courier service of the relevant country undoubtedly can provide such a service, contact them and they will certainly be able to help you

Why do you have to present an identity document when receiving an item?

Section 21(1) of the Postal Law provides that the delivery of a postal item to the addressee includes issue of the item to the recipient in person against signature, which means that the courier should compare whether the addressee specified on the item is the actual recipient of the item.

How the documents accompanying the item (delivery notes for goods, leasing documents, and other documents) are returned to the sender?

The sender shall place accompanying documents (delivery notes for goods, leasing documents, delivery and acceptance certificates, and other documents), which the sender wishes to receive back with the recipient’s signature, in a special plastic pocket and stick to the postal item, as well as specify that the return of the document is expected when preparing the item for mailing

Together with the item, the courier delivers to the recipient a delivery note for goods or other document. According to the sender’s instructions, the customer signs the documents and returns them to the courier, who delivers the signed documents to Express Mail to return them to the sender.

How often the documents signed by customers are returned to the sender?

Properly prepared (signed and sealed) documents are returned to the sender once in two weeks by a courier to the address specified by the sender. The frequency of returning can be changed according to the sender’s preferences (every day, once a week, once in 2 weeks, once a month)

How to pack an item for safe mailing?

The item transportation cycle is frequently longer than we imagine. As of the moment of the pick-up by the courier service, the item is transported and handled several times until it reaches the destination. See an example on the image/animation below:

The farther an item is mailed, the more durable its packaging should be. To see the shortest path, view the image below. And probably it will become clearer how important careful packaging of an item is, because the handling cycle is much longer than we imagine:

To learn more about the basics of correct packaging, choose the type of item to be sent:

 

Parcel

1.Choose an undamaged packaging, box, which fits the size and the shape of the item the best.
2.The package must cover the item entirely.
3.It must be possible to transport the item in the package in such a way, that they are inseparable from each other.
4.The item MUST NOT move freely, free movement should be restricted with a padding material, which absorbs slight impact as a result of fluctuations during the transportation of the item.
5.It should be possible to place the item on other items, so that they do not damage each other during the transportation.
6. The content of the postal item must not be accessible without fully damaging the package

Pallets

1.The item on the pallet must be stable to prevent its inclination and falling on other items during the transportation.
2.The item must not go beyond edges of the pallet in width or length
3. Pallets intended for transportation must be used, which can be lifted with a special machine such as a forklift or a pallet jack.
4. Use pallets of proper quality, which can withstand the weight and transportation of the item without falling apart.
